Kathleen Robbins is Having a Great Year, Already

PhotoNOLA takes us to Kathleen Robbins, who had a great year last year, including being named overall Winner of the Review Prize for PhotoNOLA 2011.

She now is reaping the reward for that accomplishment, at PhotoNOLA 2012, with the opening of her show at the Gallery of the New Orleans Photo Alliance on November 29th, 2012.

This show is based on her portfolio Into the Flat Land, which is also the title of her new book, from Blurb, here.

The NOPA gallery is located at 1114 St. Mary Street. It is open Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 4 p.m. and by appointment.

Robbins' show is up through January 27th, 2013, so if you are in New Orleans this winter, make sure to see it.

There is more on this show, here.

But this show is only the beginning of good things for Robbins in 2013.

She has recently been named a member of Photolucida's Critical Mass winning 50 photographers list for this year.

AND, she has several pieces included in a big museum show  up now at the Kohler Arts Center, 608 New York Avenue, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on view through January 20, 2013.

This show is headed to the Weatherspoon Gallery here in Greensboro, NC, at the corner of Spring Garden and Tate Streets, opening June 1, 2013 and up through August 18th, 2013.

AND, she has 2 more solo shows upcoming, about which there will be more details later on this blog.

Kathleen Robbins is one of my all-time favorite Southern photographers and I'm delighted her career is going so well.

She is also deep into new work, especially her portfolio In Cotton, about which we are sure to learn more in the coming months. As they say, you go, girl.
