The Blog about Fine Art Photography in the American South
"In the South they are convinced that they are capable of having bloodied their land with history. In the West we lack this conviction."

Up and Coming Southern Photographers, 2012, Part One -- Aaron Canipe
Hickory, NC-based photographer Aaron Canipe has a fine eye for the rural and small-town South, here in the early decades of the 21st century. He also has wit and a refined sense of irony, all helpful for the artist in our time and place.
On top of that, he's finishing his BFA at the Corcoran College of Art & Design in Washington, DC, and will have work in the annual NEXT Show, opening April 14th, 2012, with a reception at the Corcoran Gallery from 8-10 pm, and up through May 20th.
That means he's young, and has years ahead to develop and refine his craft and his vision. But he's off to a fine start.
